Rice Terraces are made to cultivate rice on the hillside or mountainside. It consists of layered fields like a step designed to control water flow. These terraces are found in China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Nepal, Madagascar, Peru and Colombia. 1. Tegallalang, Ubud

Tegallalang is the agricultural beauty of Bali, situated in a valley with palm trees. This creates beautiful scenery for capturing photos. An interesting fact about this area is that the local elders own these rice terraces, often allowing tourists to taste their coconut water samples. 

2. Sidemen, East Bali

Sidemen is another village located on the Klungkung and Baisakh Temple route, which takes up to two hours to reach from the Ubud region. It is another agricultural beauty of Bali, where you can spot breathtaking views of paddy fields. People interested in trekking or hiking can go on trekking tours from Sidemen. While walking, you get a chance to see those rivers and farmlands and learn about their conventional farming method. 

You can also shop for local souvenirs, including handlooms made of cotton and silk thread, or you can opt to print rice field landscapes on these handlooms. 

3. Rendang, East Bali 

A mountain village located in the Karangasem region of East Bali. Rendang is known for its panoramic views. The Rendang village is fully filled with paddy farms and rivers. Agriculture and stone carving are the professions of those living in Rendang village who make their living. You can spot those carvings along the roadsides. These rice terraces of the Rendang area share the countryside with the white water rapids of Telaga Waja. 

Visiting the Rendang rice field in the early morning is suggested as the climate is cooler, and you may get irritated due to the heat in the afternoons. 

4. Papuan, West Bali

Papuan is a village that cultivates coffee, clove, and cocoa along with rice. This area is known for its scenic rice terraces in West Bali. You can find famous exotic and tropical fruits like durian and mangosteen. Whenever you visit the Papuan region in the early mornings, local farmers keep and dry those cloves on the roadside. 

The best time to visit the Papuan region is during harvesting season when you get a glance at the green overlays of rice fields. However, it is said to visit these places in the early morning so that you can avoid the effect of the scorching sun.

5. Munduk Rice Field, North Bali

This rice field is situated around the neighbourhood of Gobleg and Gesing in northern Bali, which is known for its variety of rice fields. The Munduk rice fields also produce local and exotic fruits like durian. Apart from the paddy fields, it is known for its nature trails and village cycling tours, which allow you to explore the village from a different perspective.

6. Soka Rice Field, West Bali

 Soka rice field is located near the west coastal region of Bali. The rice terraces of the Soka area are situated just a few steps from the beach, making the Soka rice field one of Bali’s most scenic rice terraces. People who are interested in exploring the rice fields of the western region of Bali must visit the Soka rice field. 

The best time to visit the Soka rice field is during harvesting season when you can find the rice plants that have been harvested. After a few months, these rice plants grow to an optimum height and turn yellow.
